Q&A

What got you interested in Human Resource Management?

My engineering industry exposure and human resource management experience in a few companies led me to research in this fascinating field.

What do you think makes a career in Human Resource Management a good choice?

Talents are important for all industries. Organisations cannot continue to use a hit-or-miss practice for recruitment and selection; there is much room for improvement in this field, especially with the current advances in digital technology.

Tell us a bit about some of your past or current research.

In my younger days, I learned the importance of talent in recruitment. I applied for jobs almost every few months just to attend interviews, not to land a better job, just as an “ethnographer” to observe how interviews and selections were conducted. My current research is ongoing research in this field.

What do you love about teaching, and why?

I am passionate about teaching because I am given a responsible role to shape future leaders and it starts at this university.

What’s the best piece of advice you give to your students?

Be passionate and stay focused on what you are doing and always place a realistic yardstick to achieve it.
