Message from The Vice-Chancellor
I am delighted to introduce the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) to you, and welcome your interest in our programmes delivered at Universiti Malaya -Wales.
The University’s roots date back to 1822 with the establishment of St David’s College Lampeter; its Royal Charter is the oldest in England and Wales, after the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, and we are honoured that His Majesty, King Charles III is the University’s Royal Patron.
UWTSD enjoys the accolade of being the oldest and newest higher education institution in Wales having been established with the merger of the three universities in 2010 – the University of Wales Lampeter, Trinity University College Carmarthen and Swansea Metropolitan University. Since then, UWTSD has grown into a multi-campus university located in several towns and cities in Wales as well as in London and Birmingham in England.
Our mission is to transform education to transform the lives of those we serve, both in the UK and globally, through our partnerships. UWTSD is recognised for offering a curriculum that is vocationally relevant, addressing the needs of employers and creating a meaningful impact on communities by equipping graduates with the essential skills to thrive in an ever-evolving world. Through our campuses and collaborations, we strive to provide more individuals with the opportunity to benefit from higher education and to use their skills and knowledge to benefit society.
The University is an international community offering an extensive range of programmes of study at our campuses in the UK. We have a proud track record for the quality of the student experience that we provide, and I’m delighted that the University has been ranked first in Wales and joint third in the UK for student satisfaction by the Times Higher Education. A rating that has been compiled following the publication of the UK National Student Survey. The experience that we provide for our students is at the heart of our values and reflects the dedication of all our staff to provide the best possible learning experience to our students.
We also validate programmes at partner institutions in the UK and overseas. These partnerships allow international students to gain a globally recognised UK qualification that employers respect. We value such international collaborations and the benefits they provide to our institution and to our partner institutions.
I do hope that you will make the most of your time studying a University of Wales Trinity Saint David programme and I wish you every success for your future.
Professor Elwen Evans, KC
Vice-Chancellor
