Growing up, I always had a passion for technology. I’ve been using the computer ever since I was 4 years old. During my primary and secondary school days, I was never good at Maths or Science, but I was always keen on doing anything computer-related like typing documents, excel sheets, drawing graphs, and designing.
I came across IUMW through a friend of mine from UM who mentioned that they offer the course I’ve been looking for. The dedicated lecturers there have guided me selflessly have truly helped me to grow.
Part of that growth also came through being part of the IUMW Student Council. l became an Event Officer & IT/CS Representative under the 2020/2021 Student Council and now, I’m the President of the Student Council 2021/2022. That step-up truly happened from the encouragement of my fellow peers and lecturers.
I picked up my interest in event management from my dad who ran his own event management firm. I used to organise and coordinate events from my school days which gave me the confidence and technical know-how in planning and running events. I suppose my hard work and commitment paid off and I was subsequently nominated to run for President. I’m looking forward to serving the community and hopefully organising some fun events like a sports day, funfair and annual dinner. I hope to carry out my duties as President with honour & diligently and create a benchmark for the incoming committee.
My advice to any other students out there and looking to pursue their dreams is to trust yourself before others, and to know that there is no shortcut to success.
