Overview
The country of Wales is part of the United Kingdom along with England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Cymru, the Welsh name for the country, is bordered by England to the east, the Irish Sea to the north, St George’s Channel to the west and the Bristol Channel to the south. It is a country famous for its hills and mountains with Mount Snowdon being the highest and most well-known peak.
Wales has its own language and its capital city is Cardiff.

Outside of London and Paris, Wales is home to a plethora of stores stocking fashions from high street to high end, and many other good in between.
Places like McArthurGlen Designer Outlet is where to go for affordable designer fashions while the Castle Quarter Arcade in Cardiff boasts an arrangement of cute, independent shops and cafes. Plus set with the backdrop of beautiful Victorian architecture. Almost every major town holds a market where you can get your souvenirs or just your groceries for the cheapest prices.
Visit Wales With IUMW!
IUMW students have the chance to visit Wales with its Dual Award programmes offered in collaboration with our partner university, the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD), UK. When students graduate, they will receive certification from both IUMW and UWTSD.
Dual Award
IUMW students can also participate in The Study Visit program, where all IUMW students (dual award or not) will be able to visit Wales and make the most of the university’s links with Wales and the UK. This visit will give you the chance to gain a deeper understanding of Welsh and British culture, experience short-term study overseas, and enjoy some fantastic experiences along the way with memories that will last a lifetime!
